Project Reveal: River Marsh Refuge

August 25, 2023

Nestled amidst the serene beauty of Kiawah Island is our latest design project, “River Marsh Refuge”.

This 3-story home got a modern-coastal refresh utilizing our elevated design and shop essentials. We kept the already-beautiful structure of the home and gave it a timeless yet simple freshness that really brightened it up. This stunning vacation home features several vacation-friendly elements and allows the family to relax and enjoy their new space. With its beautiful white walls, whimsical patterns, and unique home-office, this space is a testament to harmony within design. Read below to get a peek into each space.

Walk into an entry with an impact. The grand staircase features a durable stair runner with charcoal striping to lighten up the beautiful dark wood underneath. Just below the staircase lies an upholstered bench covered in a coastal Rebecca Atwood fabric with a charming palm motif. The neutral vintage-inspired rug with hints of blue ties in nicely with the dusty-gray, woven console. To make a statement, we incorporated two white plaster statement lamps and a Magnesia Clamshell bowl filled with Reindeer Moss and two Phalaenopsis Orchid Drop-Ins. Behind the console hangs a coco bead mirror which brightens up the space.

Living Room

Right upstairs is an open living, kitchen, and dining area. Dark wood floors and beams create a unique contrast within the space. With two small gray sofas and two rattan swivel chairs, there is plenty of room for seating. Both swivel chairs can turn around to face the beautiful view of the Kiawah River.

Dining Room

The dining table chosen for this space is a true testament to the art of finding the perfect fit. We sourced this stunning surfboard table years ago at Market and knew it belonged in a Kiawah home. To allow for ease of entertaining, this table seats plenty of people. The coco bead chandelier is at the perfect height to showcase a custom art piece by Kristen Tirney. Centered on the console is our stunning Free Form Bowl filled with several Mod Moss Orbs to add a pop of greenery.

Kitchen

Moving on to the kitchen, the open and airy space has a beautiful eat-in kitchen area with an upholstered banquette. The soft blues and purples are carried throughout the space creating a comfortable and calming space to enjoy breakfast or lunch. If you have a larger round table and need a vase to fill out the space, our Konos Vase is the perfect fit!

Powder Bath

One of the punchiest spaces in the home, this powder bath encompasses coastal charm with the “Carolina in French Garden” wallpaper by Jordan Connelly Studio. With a natural textured mirror surrounded by two blue beaded sconces, this powder bath is immersed in color. What’s a powder bath without one of our favorite soap dispensers, the Burma Soap Dispenser?

Primary Bedroom

Enter the grandiose primary bedroom, decorated with soft blues and neutrals. We call this space a “treetop oasis”. The soft, blue-gray draperies frame the stunning view of the lush Kiawah trees. The artwork throughout the space features photos of beautiful oceans and beaches.

This adventurous space screams “little boy”, with a textured dark green wallpaper resembling Alligator scales. From the hanging safari hats, to the mounted surfboard, this room is decorated with nods to the complete Kiawah experience. It even has a porch door right out to the pool!

Home Office

Shelves, shelves, and more shelves. We love styling built-ins that also contain personal elements such as book collections or personal photos. This office space not only has plenty of space, but also two reclining leather chairs facing the view.

Outdoor

Everything about these two-story porches makes you want to curl up facing the water with a good book. We kept the furniture muted so as to not take away from the lush greenery and view of the Kiawah river. We have several amazing Outdoor Selections for porch and patio styling available on meganmoltenshop.com!

Thanks for joining us for this project reveal. We hope this inspired you to channel your inner “vacation home” and create your own coastal oasis.
