Welcome to our Officerβs Quarters project, located on sunny Sullivanβs Island! Constructed in 1905 by the US Army, this home was built in the Sullivan’s Island Historic District to house twenty single-families. We were lucky enough to participate in the complete renewal of a unit in this historic building. This was a very special project for us as this home had so many unique features that allowed us to run wild creatively. I canβt wait for you to check out all of the details that made this project so memorable for us!
Starting off strong in the entryway, we have a striking glass pendant fixture that reflects lots of natural light! This dimensional console table provides storage, and we finished off the look with a faux arrangement with greeneryΒ sourced from our shop.
In the living room, we wanted to use an organic light fixture that would not take away from the ceiling. These are the original ceilings that we opted to keep because they add so much character and interest to the space. The fireplace has this great plaster detail by Emily Pope Harrisβ you will see this technique in the basement as well! With a sofa, chairs, and ottomans tucked under the console table, we wanted to ensure there was plenty of seating for guests.
An honorable mention in this home is the cylindrical air-powered elevator that gives access to all 4 floors! This is the perfect execution of a sleek and modern version of an elevator that is sure to turn heads.
Moving directly into the dining room, we have a fun pop of pattern in the curtains framing the beautiful natural light streaming in from the windows. Above the storage console is a graphic abstract art piece that ties in the greens and blues seen throughout. Front and center is my FAVORITE faux pampas grassβ we use this in a bunch of arrangements because it doesnβt shed! And of course, we have the faux fig tree in the corner to maintain that organic feel.
In the kitchen, the star of the show are these blue cabinets painted in βHistoric Cooperβs Basinβ by Sherwin Williams. This color translated so wellβ adding that interesting pop of color while not being too overpowering. Accented by quartzite counters, a plaster fumer hood, and a black stone sink, this kitchen is nothing short of striking. Due to the size of this kitchen island, we were able to fit six of these acrylic bar stoolsβ excellent for bonus seating when hosting!
Although this butlerβs pantry is tucked away, we were able to keep it bright by painting the cabinets βCalmβ by Benjamin Moore. If you look closely, the backsplash is a fan-like pattern that adds so much dimension to this spot! And of course, we had to include gold hardware to compliment that striking gold sink. These double stacking decantersΒ are available for purchase in our shop and make an excellent gift for those who love to host.
In the powder bath we hung this blue / green sea glass mirrorΒ from our shop above the floating vanity stone. In addition to the double sconces, this countertop also lights up! We finished off the look with my favorite tissue box cover, also available for purchase on our site.
Iβm so pleased to introduce our first Megan Molten basement! In Charleston, the homes we see do not typically have finished basements, so naturally we had to make it one to remember! We set out to create the ultimate βman caveβ for our clients and Iβm so thrilled with the result. We used the same plaster technique by Emily Pope Harris on the exposed brick and walls as seen in the living room fireplace. This helped to brighten up the space as we played with moody colors and dark hardware accents.
My favorite touch? The original concrete floors that were refinished to their natural state. This basement is complete with a lounge seating, two bonus sleeping areas, and a bathroom complete with a striking steel shower. And of course, staying true to the βman caveβ vibe, this basement is complete with a foosball table, personalized neon sign, and a wet bar!
This primary suite complete with a fireplace and sitting area feels light, bright, and airy with access to the wraparound porch. The artwork above the bed is by Emily Pope Harrisβ we love the texture her work adds to each space. The wallpapered ceiling adds a funky touch while simultaneously tying in the neutral tones of the lounge seating. For added storage, we have this fuzzy bench at the end of the bed, perfect for holding pillows and throws. Above the fireplace we hung these abstract rock pieces that I find so eye-catching!
This primary bath is nothing short of extravagant with a sprawling glass shower, and white tub. Directly above is the Mimi chandelierΒ from my tastemakerβs collection with Mitzi, available for purchase on our site. We finished off this tub setup with an acrylic bath tray, also available for purchase! The dimensional tile flooring throughout really gives that luxurious spa feel.
The highlight of this guest bedroom is the geode wallpaper, paying homage to the lamps on each nightstand framing the bed. We love to incorporate organic textures, as seen in the hammered metal bed frame as well. Both art pieces are available for purchase from our shop: Prosecco on the PatioΒ and Dreaming ChicaΒ on display in the entry.
As we move into the guest bathroom, weβre met with this awesome circular tile in the glass walk-in shower. These bluish tones enhance the bright white cabinets beautifully. We kept it simple with minimal silver hardwareβ letting the tile work speak for itself!
This spacious stairwell really allowed us to play up the details on the wall space and landings. This fun black leather piece, lovingly nicknamed the βtrash bag artβ adds texture while tying in the black of the banisters. Across the way, we added a table, ottoman, and mirror hung with the artwork visible from behind.
The accessories of this table reference themes throughout the home, featuring a similar lamp to one seen in the dining room, finished off with a Chanel bookΒ available for purchase on our site. This 100% wool dotted animal print runner by Stanton CarpetΒ is the perfect mix of style and durability.
Our clients have three grandchildren, so we wanted to make this third floor loft the perfect spot for them to hangout and play! We have the two pink beds tucked away, and also sourced this beautiful blue daybed which also features a trundle. The wallpapered ceiling by Rebecca Atwood accentuates the loft angles and makes this space so dimensional.
For a pop of color, we have a commissioned art piece by Windy OβConnor featuring all three girls. It means so much for us to add in those personal touches for our clients, and we know this playroom is sure to hold so many special memories!
Off of the playroom is the bathroom, complete with penny tile flooring and an angled walk-in shower. This cute vanity mirrorΒ is available for purchase on our site!
With dual floor wraparound porches, we had so many opportunities to utilize the abundance of space! We kept the palette a modern black and white, and experimented with fun prints for the outdoor pillow covers. With so much room, we had many different options for usageβ seating, dining, lounging, you name it. From the second floor, there is a gorgeous view of the Sullivanβs Island lighthouse!
