Style Isn’t Just What You Wear, It’s How You Live

August 6, 2026

I’ve always believed personal style extends far beyond what you wear.

The colors you gravitate toward, the pieces you invest in, the way you mix something classic with something unexpected, it all says something about you. And when I think about the way I approach fashion, I realize it’s incredibly similar to the way I approach interiors.

Start With Pieces You Love

I’m not interested in filling a closet just to fill it, and I feel the same way about a home.

The best spaces are collected over time. They’re filled with pieces you genuinely love rather than things you bought simply because you needed to finish a room.

The same goes for getting dressed. Sometimes one incredible pair of shoes, a beautiful jacket, or a piece of jewelry can make the entire outfit. In a room, it might be a vintage console, an oversized piece of art, or a statement light fixture.

You don’t need everything to compete for attention. You need a few things that make the space or the outfit, feel special.

Neutrals Make Room for Personality

There’s a reason I come back to neutrals again and again.

They give you flexibility.

A neutral base allows you to layer in texture, pattern, color, and personality without everything feeling overwhelming. A white button-down can be styled a hundred different ways, just like a beautifully neutral sofa can completely change depending on the pillows, art, and accessories around it.

Neutral doesn’t have to mean boring. It can actually give your favorite pieces more room to shine.

Mixing High and Low Makes Everything More Interesting

Some of my favorite outfits mix investment pieces with something completely accessible.

Homes should feel the same way.

Not everything needs to be precious. A room becomes much more interesting when a custom piece sits next to something vintage, sentimental, or unexpectedly affordable.

It creates personality rather than perfection.

Trends Are Best in Small Doses

I love seeing what’s happening in fashion and design, but I’ve never believed every trend needs to make its way into your closet or your home.

The question I always come back to is: Would I still love this if I weren’t seeing it everywhere right now?

If the answer is yes, go for it.

If you’re unsure, incorporate it in a smaller way. Try the trend through accessories, a paint color, a pillow, a shoe, or a bag before making it the foundation of your style.

The Goal Is to Feel Like Yourself

Ultimately, the best outfit is the one you feel like yourself in.

I believe the same is true of your home.

Your space doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. It should reflect where you’ve been, what you love, how you live, and what makes you happy every time you walk through the door.

Because whether I’m designing a room or getting dressed, the goal is never just for it to look beautiful.

It’s for it to feel personal.
