Why I Love Vintage Turkish Rugs

February 1, 2023

I am a big fan of Vintage Turkish rugs! They bring soft color and character into a space. They are perfect to style in an entryway, kitchen, or powder room.

The reason why I love them and clients are often surprised by them is they are extremely durable. Remember, Vintage Turkish rugs have lived a long life- 50-100 years. Each rug is one-of-a-kind. You won’t find two identical.

I always say the more wear and tear they get the better they look. My kitchen has a beautiful Vintage Turkish runner that has had every food imaginable spilled on it- from milk to red wine. A little dawn soap and water can get anything out. So simple!

Where to style your Turkish rug?
Smaller Size

Perfect for a powder room or a smaller entryway. A small rug adds the perfect punch of color and looks pretty.

Runners

I will style a runner in the kitchen or hallway. For a kitchen, I love to lay a runner in-between the kitchen island and cabinetry. For hallways the longer the better. Incorporating a rug transforms a bare space to feel warm and inviting.

Oversized

Oversized Vintage Turkish rugs are perfect for layering. I love to layer a large, vintage rug on top of a natural woven or jute rug. It elevates the simple space and brings in a unique touch.
